We are happy to announce a new synergy between ODYSSEV and RELiVE (Reliable & Extended Lifetime for Circular and Modular Battery Electric Vehicles), a Horizon Europe research and innovation project focused on developing longer-lasting electric vehicle powertrains and facilitating the repairability and reusability of their components.
RELiVE, which runs from April 2026 to 2030, brings together 10 partners from 6 European countries. The project aims to develop modular, repairable and reusable electric vehicle powertrains, with targets including a 50% increase in powertrain lifetime, a 27% reduction in total cost of ownership and a 50% reduction in critical raw-material consumption per kilometre. The project will ultimately demonstrate its solutions through full physical electric-drive demonstrators.
To achieve these goals brings together two concepts: LONGLIFE, which focuses on extending the first life of electric vehicles through modular design, new materials and health-aware operation, and SECONDLIFE, which aims to give powertrain components additional lives through recovery, refurbishment and reuse.
The collaboration between ODYSSEV and RELiVE creates an opportunity to exchange knowledge around complementary aspects of next-generation electric powertrains. While ODYSSEV focuses on advancing powertrain technology towards higher voltage operation, RELiVE addresses how electric powertrains can be designed to last longer, be repaired more easily and make more efficient use of resources.
By connecting these perspectives, the two projects can contribute to the broader development of more efficient, durable and resource-conscious electric mobility solutions in Europe.
We look forward to strengthening this connection with the RELiVE consortium and making the most of the opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange!
