ODYSSEV is pleased to announce a new collaboration with AETHER (Advanced Thermal Comfort and Energy Management for Personalized, Efficient and Weather-Aware Electric Vehicle Operation), a Horizon Europe project focused on developing innovative thermal comfort and energy management solutions for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).
As members of the 2Zero Partnership and the E‑VOLVE Cluster, ODYSSEV and AETHER share a common ambition: accelerating the transition towards more efficient, sustainable, and user-centric electric mobility solutions.
The AETHER project, which started in June 2026, brings together 12 leading organisations from academia, research, and industry, coordinated by Technische Universität Ilmenau (Germany). The project addresses one of the key challenges of electric mobility: ensuring passenger comfort while maximizing vehicle efficiency and driving range. Heating and cooling systems can significantly impact battery consumption, particularly under extreme weather conditions. To address this challenge, AETHER develops advanced thermal management solutions that intelligently balance energy efficiency, passenger comfort, and vehicle performance through integrating Artificial Intelligence, advanced energy management strategies, and sustainable thermal technologies into next-generation BEVs.
ODYSSEV and AETHER are closely tied in their efforts to support the 2Zero goals and mission! Their synergy started with a common meeting, where both projects confirmed their willingness to engage in joint actions through joint communication, as well as supporting each other’s visibility activities!
By combining expertise across complementary domains of electric vehicle development, ODYSSEV and AETHER aim to strengthen the impact of European research and innovation activities and contribute to the development of affordable, efficient, and sustainable mobility solutions.
We look forward to collaborating with the AETHER consortium and following the progress of their innovative work over the coming years.
