The Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) marked a significant milestone for the ODYSSEV project by presenting its first modelling results at the international conference Alternative Energy Sources, Materials and Technologies (AESMT’26), held on 12–13 May 2026 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference also ran online, broadening its reach to a wider audience.
Presented by Spiri Trakaki, CERTH’s contribution focused on the assessment of an 800 V electric vehicle (EV) powertrain, offering a daily-cycle comparison against a conventional 400 V architecture and projecting long-term battery degradation. The results produced usign INTEMA.EV, CERTH’s in-house EV simulation framework.
INTEMA is an advanced simulation platform developed by CERTH for the dynamic simulation of complex energy systems, spanning buildings, power grids and electric vehicles. INTEMA.EV extends this capability to the system-level assessment of EV powertrains under realistic operating conditions, covering both driving and charging scenarios. Within ODYSSEV, INTEMA.EV is being further developed, adapted and configured to represent high-voltage EV powertrain architectures, and support benchmarking against more detailed modular component models. The results presented at AESMT’26 represent the first outputs to emerge from this work.
Among the key findings, the study showed that the verified EV framework was successfully adapted to represent 800 V-class operation under realistic driving conditions. The 800 V configuration significantly reduced current demand while maintaining the same state-of-charge behaviour throughout the driving cycle. Long-term simulations also provided early insight into battery ageing, while highlighting the capability of INTEMA.EV to support system-level assessment of high-voltage EV powertrains. These results mark an important early step in ODYSSEV’s broader effort to advance high-voltage EV powertrain research.
